Acupuncture is a branch of Chinese medicine that uses the insertion of fine needles into various points on the body to maintain or restore health.
The traditional Chinese medical viewpoint is that 'Qi' a vital life force flows around the body and when disrupted can create disease. Acupuncture treatment restores the flow of Qi.
Often treatment may relieve more than one condition and often patients report and overall sense of well being, resulting in more energy and a good night's sleep.
The needles are not always inserted locally. In some cases the points may be at some distance from the problem. For example, some points for hay fever may be located in the legs or feet.
